Because Urology Services treats an extraordinary range of clinical problems – erectile dysfunction, urinary incontinence, congenital abnormalities, urinary tract stones and diseases of the kidney, prostate, ureters, bladder and adrenal glands – it demands knowledge of multiple medical specialties and the latest technology.

If your treatment includes surgery, we’ll use minimally invasive procedures whenever possible. Backus Hospital, for instance, in 2015 became the first hospital in Eastern Connecticut to own and use the next-generation da Vinci surgical robot, which increased the types of minimally invasive procedures available with robotics-assisted surgery. Studies show patients who undergo da Vinci procedures have shorter hospital stays, faster recovery times, a decreased need for narcotic pain medications and smaller incisions associated with minimal scarring.

Patients also benefit from our affiliation with Hartford HealthCare’s Tallwood Urology and Kidney Institute which has assembled six disease-management teams – urologic oncology, kidney stones, pelvic health, men’s health, general urology and chronic kidney disease — for improved coordination of care and consistency of clinical outcomes throughout the Hartford Healthcare system.
