Volunteers needed to help first-time parents

NORWICH - The Nurturing Connections program at Madonna Place is looking for volunteers to help first-time parents who deliver at The William W. Backus Hospital adjust to parenthood.
During their hospital stay, new parents are paired with volunteers, who provide emotional support, educational materials, and resources/referrals to community agencies. More volunteers are needed to keep up with the ever-increasing number of new families in the community.
"Volunteering is easy, and the staff of the Nurturing Connections program will work around any schedule," said Jessica Basilica, Nurturing Connections Coordinator. "Training, ongoing support, and social events for volunteers and families are offered. The rewards are great, and the time commitment is small."
For more information, call Basilica at 889-8331, ext. 2598.
