Trauma sends no warning signs. It happens suddenly, unexpectedly. Trauma is currently the third leading cause of death in the United States, and the number one cause of death in persons under the age of 44 years. Besides loss of life, the cost to the victim, family and society in terms of disability is enormous, not to forget the time factor for recovery.

Philosophy

The Trauma Department is committed to providing immediate specialized care to victims if severe trauma, whose survival may be dependent upon immediate intervention at the scene and continued through skilled medical and/or surgical interventions at our trauma center. The reduction in disability and or morbidity evident through a well organized, systematic approach to the care of each trauma victim as they enter our doors. This is so that the patient and family may begin their journey towards rehabilitation and join their rightful place back into the community as soon as possible. Clinical research, evidenced based practice guidelines and constant self-evaluation help in achieving this goal. A dedication to excellence in providing optimal patient care is the essence of the commitment provided to each individual trauma victim.
