Similac baby formula recalled

Similac baby formula recalled

The makers of Similac baby formula have recalled powdered products dating back to 2007, saying that it could contain beetles and their larvae.

Although not a life-threatening situation, babies who eat the formula could experience stomach irritation symptoms and refuse to eat, according to Abbott, the manufacturer of Similac.

Bonnie Thompson, APRN, Director of Organizational Excellence at Backus Hospital, said parents who notice symptoms should call their pediatrician.

Parents who are unsure whether a Similac product they have has been recalled can visit www.similac.com/recall/lookup and type in their lot numbers. Or, they can call 888-376-2054.
