Backus Health Centers provide easy access to health care from four convenient locations.
A new Montville Backus Health Center will open in September with expanded services not far behind.
In early October, diagnostic imaging services will be expanded to include mammography, ultrasound and bone density testing. Lab services and digital X-rays are also offered at the center, along with primary and urgent care. There will be more parking at the new location, 80 Norwich-New London Tpke., which is near the current facility.
Hours were recently extended to 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Julius Kocsondy, Director of Diagnostic Imaging Services at Backus Hospital, said this represents a major expansion in services, because Backus patients can have screening mammograms, ultrasound and bone density testing without having to go to the hospital. After the exams are performed they are avail- able to Backus doctors electronically and part of the patient’s medical record.
“This is closer and provides easier access for patients in Montville and surrounding towns,” Mr. Kocsondy said.
“The new Montville Health Center has many new amenities — new space, expanded hours and added services such as diagnostic imaging,” said Susan Vinchesi, Administrative Director for Outpatient Services at Backus. “Our pa- tients are really going to benefit from this.”
