Backus Hospital's newest health center is conveniently located for residents of northern New London County and southern Windham County, offering primary care with or without an appointment and laboratory services.
The main provider is Jessica Van Rye-Plasse, APRN.
Ms. Van Rye-Plasse attended the University of Lowell, now University of Massachusetts Lowell, for nursing. She moved to Connecticut in 1995 after working as an ICU nurse for 25 years in Lowell, Mass.
In Connecticut, she worked at Norwich Medical Associates, until 2010. In 2002, she graduated from Quinnipiac University as an advanced practice nurse with a specialty in the family track.
Michael J. Fucci, DO, a cardiologist on the Backus Medical Staff and member of Cardiology Associates of Norwich, also sees patients at the health center.
Dr. Fucci attended medical school at the University of New England, College of Osteopathic Medicine in Biddeford, Maine, and did his residency and fellowship in cardiovascular disease at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. He is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, nuclear cardiology and echocardiography. He is also is an assistant clinical professor at the University of Connecticut.
