Jacki Recovery Jackets
One of the new items available is the Jacki recovery jackets, which are distributed free to breast cancer patients recovering from mastectomy. They are wash-and-wear, attractive garments which have pockets and areas for drains and IV to be threaded through -and are an alternative to a hospital gown during treatments.

Circles of Care
The circles provide a public way for individuals to recognize and lend support to loved ones, friends, and family members who have battled with breast cancer. All funds raised were directed to the Backus Breast Cancer Survivors Fund. Each circle can be purchased for a $1 donation.

Pink Hugs
The fashionable pink boas, available for $10, are available at the Backus Gift Shop and have been available at events, such as Pack the Place Pink and the Pink Fair. They are hand-knitted, many by survivors, and the proceeds are directed to the Backus Breast Cancer Survivors Fund.
The Backus Breast Cancer Survivors Committee
supports patient education and programs at Backus Hospital, such as the Center for Healthcare Integration (CHI), which provides complementary therapies like Reiki, massage, relaxation and stress relief to cancer patients undergoing treatment; and the Backus Breast Health Patient Navigator program, which helps women navigate the healthcare system and oversees activities and items that aid the patient experience.
Hard Rock and Backus party and partner on Pinktober
As part of the Hard Rock's Pinktober livemusic campaign for breast cancer awareness, the Hard Rock Café at Foxwoods Resort Casino will host Darik & The Funbags on Oct. 9.
The popular Connecticut cover band plays throughout New England, as well as New York and New Jersey. The five members started playing together in 1997, playing around the state and then traveling throughout New England. They competed in the VH1 show "CoverWars" in 2001, chosen from more than 800 bands to perform.
The live music events raise awareness and money for local, national and international charities.
Cover for this concert will be a suggested donation to Backus. This, along with other proceeds from the performance will go the Backus Breast Cancer Survivors Fund.
"The Hard Rock Café has partnered with Backus in our mission to raise awareness about the importance of early detection," said Genevieve Schies, Director of Planned Giving for the Backus Foundation.
On Oct. 24, another benefit concert will feature Celebrating Queen, as part of Queen Tribute Week.
Stay tuned to HardRock.com or backushospital.org/foundation for further ticket information for these events.
