Backus Operating Room nurses invite public to open house
NORWICH – An Image Guidance Machine for ENT (Ear, Nose and Throat) cases will be demonstrated by Steven Green, MD, at an open house in The William W. Backus Hospital operating rooms on Sunday, Nov. 20 from 10 to 1 p.m. This machine uses X-rays to form a 3-D picture of the head to assist in surgeries.
An anesthesiologist will display anesthesia equipment and describe the types of anesthesia used for various patients and procedures.
Spine surgery will also be featured with instruments and implants displayed and demonstrated by medical personnel.
The open house, coordinated by perioperative nurses at Backus, is free and designed for the whole family. It allows the public to personally meet and learn more about the professionals who staff the hospital’s operating rooms.
Coordinators of the Open House say that familiarity with the nurses and Operating Rooms help to educate and lessen apprehension of both adults and youngsters when they or family members need surgical procedures. Questions from visitors will be welcome and encouraged.
Those planning to attend the Open House are asked to park in the visitor parking lot at the front of the hospital’s entrance. Tour guides will meet guests in the Hospital’s Main Lobby and escort them to the E-1 Surgical Suite. Reservations are not needed.
