Author and motivational speaker Bernie Siegel, MD, will speak at an event entitled “Medicine, Miracles and the Art of Healing” on Oct. 30 at the Holiday Inn in Norwich, from 6-9 p.m. The program is sponsored by Backus Hospital’s Center for Healthcare Integration (CHI).
Dr. Siegel, a former general and pediatric surgeon at Yale-New Haven hospital, has been encouraging patients to be active participants in their healing for almost 30 years. Now as an author and speaker, he encourages patients, caregivers, parents and the community to have a more positive outlook to promote health and healing – and to enjoy life.
In his career as a surgeon, Dr. Siegel has always recognized the relationship between spiritual and physical healing, and he has made this the focus of his life’s work. Some of his best selling novels include Love, Medicine and Miracles and How to Live Between Office Visits: A Guide to Love, Life and Health.
