Memorial and tribute gifts may be used to fulfill the Hospital’s greatest needs or may be designated to support a specific area of care, including Oncology, Cardiac Care, Diabetes Management, Birthing Center, Nursing Education, Center for Healthcare Integration, and others.

Memorial Gifts provide a way for friends and family members to express sympathy and offer consolation to the family, while honoring the life and memory of their loved one. The Foundation Office notifies the family of these thoughtful gestures.
The Backus Foundation displays an attractive Memorial Wall, on the Hospital’s ground floor, listing the names of people who have elected the Hospital to receive gifts in their memory. Once an obituary is published listing the Hospital as a recipient of such gifts, the Foundation Office makes arrangements to add the loved one’s name to the display. If people wish to name the Hospital as beneficiary of memorial gifts in an obituary, they should make their wishes known to their attorney or funeral director to ensure accuracy of the information published.
Tribute Gifts are made in honor of a friend or loved one, often to mark an important occasion like the birth of a child, birthday, anniversary, graduation or retirement. The Foundation Office shares these celebratory wishes with those honored.
Recognizing Care Givers through a tribute gift is a wonderful opportunity for grateful patients and families to express their appreciation for the outstanding care provided by a physician, nurse or other member of the Backus team. The Foundation Office acknowledges these expressions of appreciation to those honored.
