Meet the people behind the masks at Backus Operating Room open house

The Operating Room at the William W. Backus Hospital will hold an open house on Sunday, Nov. 15, from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. in the hospital's E-1 Surgical Suite and the Same Day Surgery area.

See the latest advances in surgical technology, including a demonstration in the new operating room, the da Vinci surgical robot, and other new physician specialties.

The open house, which includes many activities for children, will also feature:
 A Teddy Bear clinic in which kids can bring in their own teddy bear for stitches, splints and bandages
 Information about the important role operating room nurses play in patient safety
 Mock surgical procedures

The event is held in conjunction with National PeriOperative Nurse Week.

The open house is free; no registration is required.
