Stress relief strategies for adults will be the topic for the next FamilyMatters forum, "I Can't Take It Anymore."
Martha Briggs, a licensed acupuncturist who has a master's degree in counseling, will focus on integrating techniques of mindfulness and relaxation, such as breathing and stretching, as well as the use of humor and positive thinking to combat stress.
"It is important to take time for yourself without feeling guilty,"Ms. Briggs said. "I will offer people time management tips as well." She said it is also important to practice saying no, so people don't get overcommitted to too many things, which can cause more stress.
The Family Matters series, which is sponsored by the Backus Education Department, is held the second Thursday of each month, through June, from 6:30-8 p.m.
