Fashion show to benefit cancer survivors

Join 26 breast cancer survivors as they show off the latest fashions during an event to benefit the Backus Foundation's Breast Cancer Survivors Fund.
The Oct. 15 event will be held from 7-9 p.m. at the Fox Theater at Foxwoods Resort Casino. Tickets are only $20 each and can be purchased online at foxwoods.com or by calling the Backus Foundation at 823-6331. All proceeds raised at the event will go towards providing care for local cancer patients.
"The whole purpose of the fashion show is to show people there is life after treatment. Hopefully we are inspiring people," said survivor Donna Palumbo, who along with Barbara Chiangi are co-producing the event.
The American Cancer Society estimates there will be 192,370 new cases of invasive breast cancer in 2009.
In 2007, nearly 1,000 people attended the Survivors in Fashion Show, which raised $70,000 for the Backus Hospital Breast Cancer Survivors Fund. For more information about the event, visit www.backushospital.org/pink
