Circle of Care campaign begins May 1
For the third year in a row, the Backus Office of Philanthropy and Development is embarking on its Circle of Care campaign, which helps support the Backus initiative to improve breast health.
Beginning May 1, people can buy the $1 Pink Circles in honor of people they know who have been affected by cancer. The circles can be purchased in the Backus Gift Shop or the cafeteria as well as many local businesses. They are then hung in prominent locations in the hospital and throughout the community. Last year, the Circles of Care campaign was the hospital’s single largest fund-raising effort.
In addition to the traditional paper circles, new this year is the ability to purchase a virtual circle online for $25. This electronic venture allows donors as well as honorees to see their circles even if they don’t live in close proximity to eastern Connecticut. Plus, they will reside on the Office of Philanthropy and Development’s Web site until next year’s campaign instead of being discarded once the campaign has ended.
To purchase a virtual pink circle, go to backushospital.org/circlesofcare. Once you fill in the necessary information, your circle will be added to the list of recent additions and can be found in the future using the search function.
All of the funds raised from the purchase of Backus circles will be used to benefit patients in our community. We’re forming a Circle of Care to help promote better breast health awareness, and it starts with you.
