Backus Hospital will celebrate babies and parents by hosting an annual Community Baby Shower in April.

Judy Paro, Birthing Center Class Coordinator, said about 20 different vendors, both for-profit and non-profit, participate in the event, providing information and free gifts.

Information will be available on infant safety, hypnobirthing, prenatal yoga and more. This is the third year the Backus Hospital Birthing Center has hosted the event.

"It is a great event for anyone who is expecting a new baby, or new parents, to come connect with services," Ms. Paro said.

It will be Tuesday, April 15, from 1-6 p.m. in the entry level conference rooms. Maureen Loughrey, APRN, Clinical Director of the Birthing Center at Backus, said several hundred people usually attend the free event.

"It’s a great opportunity for the community to learn about the many services, classes and informational resources the Birthing Center and other area agencies have to offer," Ms. Loughrey said.

Refreshments and door prizes will be offered.
