Backus robot to appear at Mohegan Sun
MOHEGAN –The William W. Backus Hospital will showcase its da Vinci
robot on Wednesday, Sept. 22 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Mohegan Sun,
with an evening event for physicians also scheduled.
Backus Hospital and Da Vinci Surgical System representatives will be on hand to demonstrate the robot’s minimally invasive surgical capabilities and “test drives’ will be offered to those who attend. The robot will be stationed near the waterfall in the Mohegan Sun shopping mall area.
An evening dinner will be held for physicians on Wednesday, Sept. 22, from 6-8 p.m. in the Brothertown and Passamaquoddy rooms at the Mohegan Sun. Physicians must RSVP to attend by calling 860-889-8331, ext. 6381 or emailing smawhiney@wwbh.org.
Backus is the only hospital in Windham and New London Counties with a robotic surgical program. The robot is used for prostate, kidney, colo-rectal, hysterectomy and other procedures.
