Backus Psychiatric Services lecture focuses on anti-psychotic treatments

NORWICH – The William W. Backus Hospital’s Department of Psychiatric Services will hold a talk on reducing the use of more than one antipsychotic medication to treat individual patients on Thursday, April 24, from 3-4:30 p.m. in the hospital’s conference room 3.
“Reducing Antipsychotic Polypharmacy” will be presented by Gilbert Honigfeld, PhD, who was involved with the research and development of Clozapine. Dr. Honigfeld is also the recipient of several awards, including, the Sandoz Innovation Award, the Pharmaceutical Discoverer’s Award, and the Lifetime Service Award from theNational Association for Research in Schizophrenia and Affective Disorders.
The lecture will focus on clozapine’s research and development, its place in treatment of schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorders, and Clozapine treatment now.
Provided by an Educational Grant from Azur Pharma, this is a non-CME event. Light refreshments will be provided. The event is free and open to the public. Registration is not required.
