Backus Psychiatric Services lecture focuses on Alzheimer's

NORWICH - The William W. Backus Hospital's Department of Psychiatric Services will hold a talk on "Understanding Alzheimer's Treatment through Acute Hospitalization" on Thursday, April 23, from 3-4:30 p.m. in the hospital's conference rooms 1 and 2.

Harry E. Morgan, MD, president of the Center for Geriatric and Family Psychiatry in Glastonbury and a member of the Institute for Living and Hartford Hospital medical staff will present.

The lecture will review recognizing behavioral disturbances in dementia; identify common causes of agitation in dementia; and name three medication interventions for neuropsychiatric treatment in Alzheimer's dementia.

Light refreshments will be provided. The event is free and open to the public. Registration is not required.
