Backus program to focus on the seasonal cold and flu

NORWICH -- The Backus Nursing and Community Health Education Department lecture series "Speaking of Your Health: Head to Toe" will continues with helping people better understand the difference between a cold and the flu.

"Coughing, Sneezing, Aches and Pains - A Cold, The Flu, or Pneumonia?" will be held on Thursday, Nov. 14 from 6:30-8 p.m. in The William W. Backus Hospital entry level conference rooms.

The presenter will be Setu Vora, MD, Chief of Neurology at Backus.

The event is free but registration is requested by calling 823-6313. Light refreshments will be served. The flu vaccine will be available after the presentation, sponsored by Backus Home Health Care.

In the United States, an estimated 25 million to 50 million cases of the flu are currently reported each year, leading to 150,000 hospitalizations and 30,000 to 40,000 deaths annually.
