Backus Health Home Care has been named to the 2011 HomeCare Elite, a compilation of the top-performing home health agencies in the U.S.
The list includes the top 25% of agencies in quality outcomes, process measure implementation and financial performance. A listing of the country’s top performers can be seen at www.ocshomecare.com.
“Achievement of HomeCare Elite status is especially gratifying because
it recognizes the contributions of all of our agency staff, both those caring
for patients in our communities and the
administrative staff and supervisors who
support them,” said Mary Kate Waltenius,
Executive Director of BHHC. “Our patients
deserve and expect good outcomes which
are given the most weight in determining the
top home care agencies in the nation.
Backus
Home Health Care is extremely fortunate
to have employees who provide exceptional
care and services to our patients. I am so
pleased that the performance of our outstanding team has been recognized
in this way.”
“I would like to congratulate and thank the Backus Home Health Care team,” said Dave Whitehead, President and Chief Executive Officer of Backus. “They are important members of the Backus Health System and the continuum of care that we strive to offer patients throughout the region – before, during and after their hospital stay.”
The 2011 HomeCare Elite is a leading performance recognition indicator in the home health industry. It was developed by OCS HomeCare, a provider of homecare information and Decision Health, an independent, industry publisher. Data used is publicly available data from Home Health Compare and the CMS Cost Reports.
“It is increasingly challenging to manage the cost/quality equation,” said Amanda Twiss, CEO of OCS and My InnerView. “The 2011 HomeCare Elite winners demonstrate a commitment to providing patients with the best possible care while managing their business efficiently and effectively. This year, we updated our methodology to reflect industry focus and, based on this rigorous analysis, we congratulate Backus Home Health Care on being one of the top home care agencies in the country.”
“The HomeCare Elite designation continues to gain significance given the regulatory changes and challenges that agencies face,” said Marci Heydt, product manager for the post-acute care business group, DecisionHealth. “ Agencies that have earned recognition among the HomeCare Elite demonstrated that they not only can adapt to an evolving marketplace but continue to excel in both clinical and financial outcomes.”
