Backus Home Health Care has received accreditation by the Community Health Accreditation Program (CHAP), for meeting national standards of excellence in homecare.

As an independent, non-profit accrediting body, CHAP objectively validates the excellence of community healthcare practice through consistent measurement of the delivery of quality services.

"This is a very big accomplishment for the staff," said Dee Boisclair, Chief Executive Officer, Backus Home Health Care. "I'm proud of their hard work in achieving this certification."

"Central to the accreditation was a strong Quality Improvement process that focused on great patient outcomes and experiences," said Peter Shea,MD, Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer at Backus.

Mary KateWaltenius, Executive Director of Backus Home Health Care, said the application process started in the spring of 2008 with a self-study followed by a comprehensive site visit.

"I appreciate the contributions that our staff make each day in caring for our patients and in making BHHC an agency of excellence," said Ms. Waltenius.
