Backus announces new board
PrintNORWICH - Peter V. Disch has been elected the new Chairman of The William W. Backus Hospital Board of Directors/Trustees.
Disch, who had been Vice Chairman and on the Board since 2000, replaces Richard H. Strouse, who completed his three-year term and 12 years on the Board. Disch is a Norwich resident and President of Disch Motors in Moosup.
Replacing Disch as Vice Chairman is Ronald A. Goldstein, an attorney and real estate developer in Colchester; Treasurer is James P. Cronin, President and Chief Executive Officer of Dime Bank in Norwich; and Secretary is Joseph A. Fatone, a retired local businessman.
New Board members include Anthony Joyce, Senior Vice President of Lending at Eastern Federal Bank in Norwich; Dr. Bert A. Coppotelli, a family medicine physician in Lisbon and Vice President of the Backus Medical Staff; and new Auxiliary President Elizabeth Trudelle, who replaces Janice Stewart, who completed her term.
Dr. Stephen T. Briggs, an OB/GYN on the Backus Medical Staff, will be the new President of the Medical Staff, replacing Dr. Kolala Sridhar, who completed his term.
The new board members and leadership appointments were approved at the Annual Meeting of Backus Corporation on Nov. 19.
