PLAINFIELD – Backus Hospital Physical Therapist Kristin Hilliard will present “Backpack Safety and Keeping Exercise Fun and Safe” on Thursday, Aug. 12, from 6:30-8 p.m. at the Plainfield Recreation Center at 482 Norwich Road.

With back-to-school time just around the corner, Ms. Hilliard will explain how to outfit children with proper backpacks to prevent injuries and how to determine the proper amount of weight to be carried. The event is part of the ongoing Enjoy LIFE (Lifelong Investment in Fitness and Exercise) series, a partnership between The William W. Backus Hospital and the Plainfield Recreation Department.

Backus Registered Dietitian Sarah Hospod will also be available to answer individual diet and nutrition questions starting at 6 p.m.

The program is free but registration is required by calling 860-889-8331, ext. 2495. Teams involved in the Enjoy LIFE project are encouraged to attend.
