Aetna selects Backus as affordable

NORWICH – The William W. Backus Hospital has been selected by Aetna as a “Choose and Save” hospital for 2012.
Under this Aetna benefit plan, members receive maximum savings when receiving medical care from Backus.
“This recognition speaks to our system-wide efforts to find the most efficient ways to provide high quality care to our patients,” said Daniel Lohr, senior vice president and chief financial officer. “This is a win-win situation for everyone, and the direction healthcare is going in the future.”
As a participating hospital, Backus was rated based on clinical quality and efficient use of health care resources.
Aetna developed the Choose and Save program as a response to employers and employees who wanted options designed to better control overall medical costs.
