The William W. Backus Hospital Foundation will host a Pink Fair on Thursday, May 7, from 3-7 p.m. in the hospital's entry level conference rooms.
The free event will focus on women's health and wellness - education, access and patient care - and will include a luminaria ceremony at 6:30 p.m. in honor of those who have battled breast cancer.
Demonstrations of leading edge technology, such as digital mammography and the da Vinci surgical robot now used for hysterectomies, will be available.
Free screenings, including bone densitometry, will be offered. Other highlights include: insurance options for women and families; complementary therapies available through the Backus Center for Healthcare Integration (CHI); Backus nutritionists on healthy eating; OB GYN Associates; Dr. Mark Tramontozzi, a surgeon on the Backus Medical Staff; clinical trial information available through Eastern Connecticut Hematology and Oncology (ECHO) and Renewal Medical Day Spa.
Circles of Care may be purchased for $1 and Pink Hugs, handcrafted survivor boas, will also be for sale, both of which support the Backus Breast Health Initiative.
Light refreshments will be provided. The event is free and open to the public. Registration is not required. For more information contact Genevieve Schies, Director of Planned Giving for the Backus Foundation at 823-6331, or visit www.backushospital.org/pink.
