The William W. Backus Hospital Wound Care and Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Center offers hope and support for persons with chronic non-healing wounds.
Located in a new, spacious outpatient center, our Backus team of board certified physicians and certified wound specialist nurses are trained in advanced wound care and hyperbaric medicine.
The Backus Wound Care Center specializes in treating non-healing wounds associated with:

- Poor circulation
- Pressure
- Trauma
- Infection
- Burns
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy is a medical treatment that uses the administration of 100 percent oxygen at a controlled pressure for a prescribed amount of time.
Backus is the only center in Eastern Connecticut which offers state-of-the-art hyperbaric chambers that can speed the healing process and enhance tissue growth and repair in select patients.
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy is approved by the American Medical Association (AMA) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the treatment of numerous conditions, including diabetic ulcerations, radiation tissue injuries and Osteomyelitis.
